The Vasement Story

Krissy + Colton

We first met during our senior year of high school in Eugene, Oregon. Despite going to rival schools (Go Irish), we miraculously became close friends, and before long, that friendship turned into something much deeper.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest surrounded us with abundant natural beauty. Every season here has its own magic, and long before we knew each other, we both shared a love for zee great outdoors.

After graduating from the University of Oregon, Krissy studying Art Direction and Marketing in the Journalism School, and Colton studying Environmental Studies & Landscape Design, we found ourselves and our handsome dog Louie, in Napa, California. We moved there to be closer to family and to start something new, not realizing how many beautiful things were waiting for us there.

Within months, Krissy began working for a local floral designer, Bellevue Floral Co., in 2021. Colton started helping around the shop, and it wasn’t long before he was learning to design as well.

We both fell in love with the craft, the community, the art, and the ways floristry allows us to express our creativity. Over two years in Napa, we gained invaluable experience, unforgettable memories, honed our design style, and discovered a shared creative language through flowers.

Eventually, life led us back home to Oregon, this time to Portland. Drawn by family, frisbee, and a really cute house… with a very cute basement. Down in those depths birthed a little flower workshop, where we spent hours on mainly just friends and family weddings and events, and before long, The image of our basement growing little roots in the ground and sprouting flowers through the roof gave life to the thought of...The Vasement.

The Basement Vase. The Vasement Base.

All arranging styles within the flower world are beautiful, don't get it twisted, but vased arrangements... those just tickle my tum. There’s something grounding about them. Everything has its place, each stem intentionally positioned, truly a natural sculpture. Good vase design, like life, starts from the bottom up: with the vase.

With The Vasement, we hope to make a community of our own, through events, pop-ups, and the small chitchat during deliveries. Floristry for us has been a constant journey of learning and exploration. We are excited to welcome you on this lil journey of ours.

We look forward to working with you!
